What’s happening in the Mount?
Tauranga City Council has contracted Fulton Hogan Ltd to carry out repairs and maintenance in Mount Maunganui.
This work is part of the Council’s annual programme, improving road safety and investing in our roading assets, including footpaths.
Our work is very weather dependant so dates may change due to the weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
Our roadworks include heavy machinery which unfortunately can create noise, vibration and types of environmental factors (including cement dust for example).
FAHEY AVENUE AND MAHINA PLACE Cul-de-sac Asphalt Resurfacing

Type of Works: CUL-DE-SAC ASPHALT RESURFACING
Fulton Hogan Ltd, contracted by Tauranga City Council, is resurfacing the cul-de-sac head in your area as part of Council’s annual maintenance programme. We resurface our roads to prevent water damaging the layers underneath and potholes forming. Maintaining our roads means we can all move around our city easily and safely.
Additional Information:
The affected areas are highlighted and will be operating under a road closure. Matavai Street will be operating under stop/go traffic management to allow for plant parking and movement. You will continue to have access to and from your property while the asphalt operation is in progress.
Please allow a little extra time and speak with the on-site Traffic Management team, who will guide you safely through the site. Please note that if the works are directly in your path, there may be a brief delay.
MATAI STREET Footpath Repair
Status: COMPLETED
Date of Works: TUESDAY 23RD, TUESDAY 30TH JUNE AND WEDNESDAY 1ST JULY 2026
Type of Works: FOOTPATH REPAIRS
This work will be done during the day and will include repairing the damaged footpath.Workswill take place between Tuesday 23rd June and Tuesday 30th June. This is a staged process, and the team will return during this period to complete the work.
Pedestrians will be shown the safest path to follow at all times. If the site is unattended, please follow the traffic management signage.

The area affected is highlighted and will be operating under a footpath closure and shoulder closure. You will continue to have access to and from your property while the maintenance operation is in progress. Please allow a little extra time and speak with the on‑site Traffic Management team, who will guide you safely through the site.
Please note that if the works are directly in your path, there may be a brief delay.
During the curing process, it’s essential that no traffic passes over the freshly poured concrete.
The footpath will open again on Monday 6th July 2026.
MATAI STREET AND MIRO STREET INTERSECTION Asphalt Resurfacing

Type of Works: Asphalt Resurfacing
Fulton Hogan Ltd, contracted by Tauranga City Council, is resurfacing the road in your area as part of Council’s annual maintenance programme. We resurface our roads to prevent water damaging the layers underneath and potholes forming. Maintaining our roads means we can all move around our city easily and safely.
As part of the staging for these works, you may experience a temporary road surface with level changes. Please drive carefully through the site.
